"Caged" is a reflection of the duality many women face: filled with purpose, gifts and untapped potential, yet often walking through a world that limits and confines us because of our identity. The transparent red box over her eyes symbolize the barriers and stereotypes placed upon us, shaping how we are seen and how we move in the world. 
 
Her hair represents the richness and depth of our heritage hidden beneath the layers of limitations.  This painting is a personal expression of the struggle to be fully seen and understood while navigating the constraints of systemic and societal expectations. It is an invitation to look beyond the surface and see the full spectrum of a black womans truth, purpose and limitless potential.
