Part of a series called "If She Had", Safe In Her Shadow represents the mother who protects her child against the world. Her hand grips the door, not in fear but in readiness. The son stands behind her, shielded by her presence. She is watchful. Alert. Covering. 
I created this as a reflection of protection I longed for. The kind that stands guard without hesitation.
